The league’s new drug policy, which went into effect in September of this season had many players that were suspended this year either have their suspensions lifted or shortened. But, Dion Jordan was not part of this group and was not allowed back with the team as his initial violation fit the new punishment criteria.
Dion Jordan, 24, is in his second season in the NFL after he was drafted third overall by the Miami Dolphins out of Oregon. The Dolphins will need to drop someone in order to make space for Dion Jordan.
The team will also have to decide where they want Jordan on defense. He’s a strong pass rusher, but can also be used as a linebacker, covering tight ends. The team has previously stated they see him as a defensive end, but with the success of Cameron Wake and Olivier Vernon at those positions, the Dolphins may have to be creative with Dion Jordan.
The 3-3 Miami Dolphins rank fourth in the league in total defense this season, allowing just 313.7 yard per game, only trailing the Detroit Lions, San Fransisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts. The Dolphins can only benefit from a stud pass rusher like Dion Jordan and we’ll see if their defense continues to dominate and improve with him back on the team.
