Vince Carter may be 37 years old and not the same player that he once was, but he can still get up off the ground and block a shot as well as anybody.

Vince Carter is no longer a member of the

Dallas Mavericks

and he made sure that former teammate Dirk Nowitzki was aware of that. Vince Carter has been in the

NBA

for 16 years, but he showed Nowitzki that he can still jump up like a pogo stick. Nowitzki went up for what looked like a routine dunk, until Carter came out of nowhere to deny Nowitzki at the rim.

Even at age 37 Carter can still get major hang time. Carter was always known as one of the most athletic players to ever play the game and even though he is far past his prime, he still has some pep in that step. His teammate for 3 seasons in Dallas Dirk Nowitzki should know about Carter’s insane hops as well as anybody. Carter’s block was a message to the league that age is just a number. Some people age more graciously than others and Carter is one of the lucky ones.

Carter will be expected to play important minutes for the Grizzlies next season and if Carter can continue to score points in bunches and bury clutch shots, the Grizzlies will look smart for signing him. Carter didn’t want to leave Dallas, but when he saw 3 years worth $12 Million on the table from the Grizzlies he couldn’t resist.
