First off, the Xbox One background will be changing for the first time. Gone is the standard black background, and in are some options. A standard color can be chosen, or artwork from an unlocked achievement can be used as well.
On top of the background look, the user profile on the Xbox One will get an overhaul and start to trend more towards its Xbox 360 look. Gamers will be able to show off some of their achievements as well as some other more personal information of your choosing.
A further Twitter integration is being brought to the Xbox One as well, allowing saved clips to be tweeted out. On top of Twitter functionality increasing, TV shows will be more featured as well. See what others are watching, and interact with new ways to watch your favorite shows.
Another big upgrade is coming to SmartGlass as well. As Xbox One continues to grow into a social platform, the integration also continues to expand.
You can check out all of the update in more detail on the Xbox Wire.
While it is great that Microsoft is going to focus more on each individual gamer and their profile, I still can’t help but feel like its too late. Coming from the Xbox 360, my biggest draw was my gamerscore and the emphasis put on gaining more achievements in games. That was pushed to the backburner thanks to the poor UI on the Xbox One, and has contributed to me being more apt to play on the PS4 than the Xbox One.
