The Pouncey twins, NFL players, Mike and Maurkice, won’t be charged for their part in a brawl at a Miami night club while celebrating their birthday

Back in July, the Pouncey twins, Maurkice Pouncey of the

Pittsburgh Steelers

and Mike Pouncey of the

Miami Dolphins

, were celebrating their birthday at a night club in Miami. This was the same party they were photographed wearing their “Free Hernandez” shirts to support their former

Florida Gator

s’ teammate and accused murdered, Aaron Hernandez.

During the festivities, the Pouncey twins were involved in a brawl.

Three people,  Riquan James, Brantley Williams, and Niya Pickett, filed a civil complaint upon both Maurkice and Mike Pouncey and are suing them. The Pouncey twins were reportedly making “derogatory and homophobic remarks and anti-gay slurs” and injured both Riquan James and Nya Pickett.

There was a report that Maurkice Pouncey would be charged with battery but that does not appear to be the case. In fact, neither player is going to be charged with a crime.

“As expected, the Miami-Dade Office of the State Attorney has determined that the Pouncey brothers should not be charged in connection with an altercation that occurred at the Cameo Nightclub on July 12, 2014,” lawyer Jeff Ostrow tells PFT.   “This confirms that the previous claim that the brothers were involved was false and fabricated by individuals seeking notoriety and monetary gain.”

This obviously will keep the Pouncey twins from any possible jail time but it doesn’t abstain them of any wrongdoing. The civil suit is still intact and it won’t take nearly as much to win a case like that as it would to bring criminal charges on the Pouncey twins.
