The Kansas City Royals rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 7-2 lead over the San Francisco Giants in Game 2 of the World Series.

It all started with a bloop single off the bat of Lorenzo Cain. From there the Kansas City Royals just kept piling on runs, and what started as a tie game in the sixth inning turned into a comfortable 7-2 lead for the Royals.

Eric Hosmer walked as the final batter whom Jake Peavy faced. Once things were handed over to the Giants’ bullpen, Bruce Bochy did his usual thing. He tried to match up with each hitter, yet the damage just kept on coming from the Royals.

Billy Butler drove in Cain to make it 3-2. Salvador Perez drove in two runs on a double to the left-center field gap. Then, to punctuate things, Omar Infante hit a home run off Hunter Strickland to make it 7-2 and put the Royals in command of this game.

That makes it five home runs allowed this postseason for Strickland. In case you had any doubts that Strickland struggles with the long ball, just recall that he actually gave up a round-tripper to Omar Infante in a key spot in this game.

The frustration boiled over for Strickland, as he barked at Salvador Perez while Infante was rounding the bases. Ultimately, that only meant that Strickland made a fool of himself on the mound and just in general.

It looks like the Royals are on their way to tying this series up at 1-1, which sets us up for a long and interesting 2014 World Series.
