The Boston Celtics have no room for Will Bynum on their roster despite trading for him a few days ago.

After acquiring Will Bynum in exchange for Joel Anthony, the Boston Celtics are facing a bit of a problem.

With a full roster and Bynum expecting to see a decent amount of floor time, Boston simply doesn’t have room for the veteran guard. It’s a sentiment that was expressed to Will Bynum’s agent by the Boston Celtics who say they love what the guard brings to the floor, but don’t have a roster space available for him.

“They like Will as a player,” Mark Bartelstein, Bynum’s agent said. “They value him as a player. They just don’t have a roster spot. If they could do something to create an opportunity (to keep him), they would look at that. But right now, they don’t have a roster spot open. So we’ll see what happens in the next couple days.”

A decision regarding the future of Will Bynum is expected in the next few days and most likely will end in the veteran being waived. It’s previously been reported the Boston Celtics are attempting to find a trade partner for Bynum though no opposing general manager is going to give up anything of value for a player who’s likely to hit the free agent wire.

Perhaps if Boston was willing to absorb a poor contract along with a second-round pick they could trade Will Bynum but such a move makes little sense for the Celtics who would be best served by cutting ties.

The 31-year-old guard is likely more talented than a few of the players on the end of the Celtics’ bench, however as the team is currently in a re-building mode they’d prefer to keep the younger talent with more promise understandably.
