New York Knicks president Phil Jackson says Amare Stoudemire will be a key to the teams success this season.

It’s previously been stated the New York Knicks don’t have a plan constructed to limit the minutes of forward Amare Stoudemire, who despite a multitude of injuries over the past few seasons suggests he feels as if he’s 19-years-old again.

Of course he’s yet to play in a regular season game let alone play an 82-game schedule so his comments need to be taken with a grain of salt. Still, it’s rather obvious that the New York Knicks are expecting big things from their veteran forward this season including president of basketball operations Phil Jackson who suggests Amare Stoudemire will be a key to the franchises success this year.

“One of the keys to the season will be the play of Amar’e Stoudemire. Although his tender knees will require his playing time and his practice time to be carefully monitored, we hope he’ll be able to play four rotations of eight minutes per game. That’s because Stoudemire can still be a potent scorer. He can get to the middle when he’s in the low post, and in screen-rolls he’s a threat to either screen-and-pop or drive to the hoop.”

Jackson, in his typical Jedi mind fashion did go on to harpoon the defensive ability of Stoudemire though still believes he’s to be a huge cog in what the Knicks plan to do this season.

Despite the lack of minutes restriction, it has been said that the team will plan out times to give Amare Stoudemire a rest which could result in the former All-Star missing an occasional game here or there.

It’s not yet known if Amare Stoudemire will start nor what position will he play the vast majority of his minutes.
