TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Trevone Boykin may be the most improved player in college football this year and as a result has seen his NFL draft stock rise dramatically

NFL teams are looking for dual-threat quarterbacks who can beat defenses with their feet as much as they can with their arm and that bodes well for TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin who is enjoying a fine college season for the Horned Frogs and could see that success translate to being drafted much higher than originally thought at the beginning of the season.

Boykin used to be a wide receiver and an athlete masquerading as a quarterback and even as recently as this summer was competing with Texas A&M transfer Matt Joeckel for the starting job at TCU.

However, after beating out Joeckel and learning the finer points of Sonny Cumbie’s offense, Boykin has thrived in leading the Horned Frogs to the No. 9 passing offense and to wins against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State for a 5-1 record and a No. 10 ranking in the top 25. He is coming into his own at the right time and NFL scouts are taking notice of his breakout season.

"“With the way the NFL game is morphing with the college game, his style of play plays right into what the league is looking at right now,” said an NFC personnel director, via NFL.com."

The NFL Draft is not for another six months but Boykin has put himself on the radar of NFL scouts and could be one of the more intriguing players to watch in the second half of the college season and throughout the combine and pre-draft process.

Boykin is a redshirt junior so he can return to TCU and further refine his game if he desires, but if not, he could be a fascinating mid-round selection.
