4 Favorites for ACC Player of the Year
By John Bauman
Four favorites in the ACC Player of the Year Race.
We are about halfway through the 2014 college football season, and it’s about time to start figuring out who the top candidates for some postseason hardware are. In the ACC Football Player of the Year award race, there is a clear cut favorite that no one can dispute for football reasons only. Jameis Winston, the reigning winner of the award and the reigning Heisman winner, has thrown for over 1800 yards, 13 touchdowns and six interceptions on the season. He has been by far the best player on a really good Florida State team that is 7-0 and all but certain to make the college football playoff.
Nobody disputes that Jameis Winston would win the award for football reasons, but could Winston’s off the field issues turn voters away? And in his place, could a dark horse candidate arise? Over the next few slides, check out who some of the dark horse candidates for ACC Player of the Year are and see my answer to the question of whether or not Winston’s off the field antics will turn voters away when it comes time to vote. Also, we want to hear from you! Let us know who you think would be ACC Player of the Year in the comments section below.
