Christian Ponder has had a rough go with the Minnesota Vikings and he’s grown unsure of how long he’s going to be sticking around.

The Minnesota Vikings have a franchise quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater, which sort of edges out the need to have former first-round draft pick Christian Ponder around. The 2012 draft pick has been an absolute bust and the need for him to be on roster has evaporated.

Ponder was once promising but he has eroded all need or desire for himself in Minnesota, which could lead to a change of scenery in the near future. Ponder is the backup quarterback to Bridgewater this year but he may be looking for new work this offseason.

According to the Pioneer Press, Christian Ponder is unsure he’s going to be returning to the Minnesota Vikings next season.

"“I have no idea,” said Ponder, who becomes a free agent after the season. “I haven’t thought about it. My family and myself, we’ll visit it after the season, and we’ll see what happens.”"

Ponder is in a situation where he holds zero leverage in the NFL. He had a chance to redeem himself a few weeks ago in Green Bay but only confirmed the notion that he’s not cut out for the NFL. Those blaming the Leslie Frazier system for holding Ponder back saw that even Norv Turner couldn’t turn him around.

There may not be another job in the NFL for Ponder, as being a backup may be too generous an offer for the former Florida State product. Ponder isn’t a bad guy, he;s just a bad quarterback and his days in the NFL may be numbered.
