Johnny Manziel had some company at his home when NBA superstar and Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James popped in for a visit to ‘check in’ on the Cleveland Browns backup quarterback

The city of Cleveland is home to two of the more popular/polarizing professional athletes in the country with LeBron James signing with the Cavaliers in this summer and the Browns drafting Johnny Manziel in May.

Manziel is planning on attending the Cavs home opener Thursday against Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks so be prepared for a number of shots of Manziel sitting courtside as he watches his friend and business associate in the middle of the NFL season.

Manziel remains the team’s backup quarterback with Brian Hoyer starting and leading the Browns to a 3-3 record so I’m bracing myself for the questions that are sure to arise about Manziel not being dedicated to his craft and trying to master the team’s playbook and fight for the starting job.

The 2012 Heisman winner may just be returning the favor as a good friend after LeBron has done the same to “check in” on Manziel and make sure he’s doing okay in his rookie season and adapting to life in a new city and league while he adjusts to sitting on the bench and watching.

"“He’s done a good job, which I’m thankful for, of kind of checking in on me, making sure things are good,” Manziel said of LeBron, via ESPN.com. “I’ve gone out to his house a couple of times and gotten the chance to kind of get away and relax.”"

Manziel should be thankful for having LeBron in his life as a friend and mentor as he can learn from him and see how he handles his business away from the game and manages the distractions and hysteria that follow.

“There’s been enough drama around me and my life for a couple of years now,” said Manziel.

There may just a bit of drama coming his way if he starts being a frequent visitor to Cavs games as people have never been shy about criticizing Manziel’s off-the-field activities.
