Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett will watch what he says around Jon Gruden before their Monday Night Football game against the Redskins, and Gruden’s brother.

The Dallas Cowboys are set to take on the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football, and are looking to extend their winning streak. It sets up an interesting match up between two divisional rivals whose seasons are headed down drastically different paths.

Before games, coaching staffs meet with the broadcasting team to discuss things and get a feel for the team ahead of calling the game. What makes this interesting for the Cowboys this week is that the broadcaster is former Super Bowl winning coach Jon Gruden, and the Redskins head coach happens to be his brother Jay.

As you might expect, coaching staffs are as guarded with their playbooks and game plans as the military is with nuclear launch codes, so Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said he’d be guarded about what he says this week.

“As you know, we’re probably a little bit guarded with all media people,’’ Garrett said, via the Dallas Morning News. “That’s a dynamic that really happens every week.

“You have to be careful with what you’re sharing with people. You want to certainly help the media do their job as well as they can do it by giving them information, but it’s always short of compromising yourself and creating a competitive disadvantage, so I don’t think it’s different.

“I know Coach Gruden fairly well. A lot of guys on our staff know him fairly well. He’s a pro. He’s always been a pro, so we don’t think that will be a real issue.’’
