Detroit Lions defensive tackle C.J. Mosley has been suspended for two games for a violation of team rules and was sent home from London.

The Detroit Lions announced Saturday that defensive tackle C.J. Mosley has been suspended for two weeks and was sent home from London on the eve of the team’s game with the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium.

According to Pro Football Talk, Mosley was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team and a violation of team rules (which could also be interpreted as conduct detrimental to the team, but never quibble with redundant football personnel, I always say).

The team did not specify what rule(s) Mosley broke, but he is on his way back to Detroit and will not attend Sunday’s game.

Also unclear is whether the second week of the suspension includes the team’s bye week that follows their London soiree.

Mosley, a backup at defensive tackle behind starters Nick Fairley and Ndamukong Suh, has played in all seven games for the 5-2 Lions and has 11 tackles and one forced fumble this season.

Mosley is in the final year of a two-year free agent contract he signed with the Lions in April 2013. In his 10th NFL season, Mosley has also played for the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars and has 172 tackles, 14 sacks, three passes defensed and seven forced fumbles in his career.

He was a sixth-round pick by the Vikings out of Missouri in the 2005 NFL Draft.
