Ole Miss would get on the board first in the opening quarter thanks to a 15-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bo Wallace to receiver Cody Core.

LSU cut the deficit to 7-3 with just three minutes left in the first half by way of a 21-yard Colby Delahoussaye field goal.

Both defenses held strong in the third quarter, but the Tigers finally broke through in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Anthony Jennings and tight end Logan Stokes connected on a 3-yard score with 5:07 remaining to give LSU its first touchdown of the game.

Ole Miss passed up a chance at a 47-yard field goal to send it into overtime, opting instead to run a pass play with nine seconds left in the game. LSU picked off Wallace to seal the win.

Jennings finished the game 8-16 for 142 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Leonard Fournette finished as the team’s top rusher with 113 yards and Terrance Magee the top pass-catcher with 45 receiving yards.

Wallace was 14-34 for 177 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Wallace also rushed a team-high 40 yards and Laquon Treadwell had 71 receiving yards.

This is certainly a crushing loss for an Ole Miss team that had hopes on running the table into the College Football Playoff. The Rebels can still make it to college football’s final four , but there’s no more room for error at this point.

For LSU, this is the type of big win that could propel them towards a big finish this year.
