Sacramento Kings Say Rudy Gay Does Not Have Facial Fracture

Sacramento Kings fans have been holding their breath ever since star Rudy Gay had to leave Friday night’s preseason game after getting an elbow to the jaw

Rudy Gay is looking to have a banner year with the Sacramento Kings as the team is looking to improve more so than it ever has this season. Armed with a star in Gay, a sidekick in DeMarcus Cousins and a slew of young and veteran players to fill in the gaps, the Kings want to get better now but there are setbacks that can occur.

One setback that can damage the season is if injury derails certain players. That almost happened to Rudy Gay this week. In the Kings preseason finale against the Los Angeles Lakers, Gay took a shot to the jaw by way of rookie Julius Randle’s elbow.

Thankfully, there doesn’t seem to be much damage to Gay’s face or jaw. Kings beat writer Sean Cunningham reports that Gay didn’t suffer a facial fracture and should be ready to go for the Kings season opener next week.

The Kings need Gay to be healthy this season as he’s a critical part of their progress. The growth in Sacramento doesn’t rest solely on Gay but having him there to be a leader and to help things along certaintly won’t hurt.
