Minnesota Timberwolves, Ricky Rubio Close To Agreeing On New Contract
By Josh Hill
The Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to find common ground on a contract extension with guard Ricky Rubio, and it appears a deal is close.
Ricky Rubio knew that a max contract was earmarked for him a few years ago, so no one in his camp is shocked that he’s asking for that now. The only people giving him residence are the Minnesota Timberwolves but it appears that could be changing.

In a turn of events from this summer, the Timberwolves are apparently close to agreeing to a contract extension with Ricky Rubio. Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders reports that the two sides are nearing a deal but nothing is official yet.
It’s becoming clear that Ricky Rubio will not be the face of the franchise as that will end up being Andrew Wiggins. But the NBA is a league feasting on tandems these days as everyone from John Wall to LeBron James and Stephen Curry have sidekicks .
There doesn’t seem to be a singular face of any one franchise these days unless the superstar is actively trying to be a singular star — like Kobe Bryant.
That’s good news for Rubio as he and Wiggins can be the dual face of the Wolves franchise, unless a deal doesn’t end u getting struck in time.
