With another NBA season already underway, here’s a look at who our Fansided scribes think will be taking home the awards in 2014-15.

Only one of 30 teams can win the most important NBA award each year. The Larry O’Brien trophy — reserved for the one team that emerges as champions by season’s end — is the ultimate goal for each and every player in the league. It’s how superstars cement their legacy, it’s how franchises make the most money and it’s how we determine the success and failure of each and every team.

But that title-or-bust mentality also overlooks one of the best things about the NBA: on any given night, anybody can beat anybody else. Every franchise has a star player of some sort (well, except the Philadelphia 76ers), and it makes the games worth watching on a nightly basis. Since there are 29 teams who fall short of the grand prize every year, the NBA is good about recognizing individual achievement with a number of other awards as well.

The 2014-15 NBA season has just begun, but it’s never too early to take a look at the favorites for these awards. Here’s a breakdown of who our Fansided scribes believe will take home Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player of the Year and, of course, the Most Valuable Player award.
