Vikings Everson Griffen Named Defensive Player Of The Month
The Minnesota Vikings let Jared Allen walk this offseason and inked Everson Griffen to a monster NFL contract. Griffen is repaying them nicely and earned the NFC Defensive Player of the Month award for October.
Everson Griffen signed a mammoth five-year, $42 million deal this summer with the Minnesota Vikings. Playing much of his career behind Jared Allen, the Vikings had faith in what they saw.

So far, their investment has paid off.
Today the Vikings announced Griffen has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month.
Through four games in October, Griffen led the NFL in sacks with six. He recorded at least one sack in each of the four games this month, the only player in the NFL to do so.
Griffen also led all defensive lineman with 20 tackles, 16 of which were solo.
Against the Bills, Griffen had what may have been his best game in the NFL. Despite the loss, Everson Griffen totaled three sack, eight tackles, and a forced fumble. His eight sacks are at the top of the NFC, and rank first in the NFL among defensive linemen.
Griffen has used his tools along with his development to fuel his breakout season in his first as “the man” with Allen gone.
Minnesota will be running after a mobile quarterback on Sunday as Robert Griffin III will be making the start for the Washington Redskins. The game will kick off from TCF Bank Stadium at 1pm ET.
