Joe Maddon To Be Introduced As Chicago Cubs Manager On Monday
The Chicago Cubs plan to introduce Joe Maddon as the team’s new manager at a press conference on Monday
Joe Maddon is expected to be named the new manager of the Chicago Cubs at a press conference on Monday, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports after the team fired Rick Renteria after one season on Friday afternoon.

Maddon opted out of his contract with the Tampa Bay Rays by exercising a clause in his deal that allowed him to opt out if Andrew Friedman left the organization, which the Rays former general manager did earlier this month to become the president of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Almost immediately after Maddon opted out, the Cubs were the odds-on favorite to be hired by the Cubs. Speculation ran rampant that the Cubs and Maddon was a “done deal” in the middle of the week, but a formal announcement had to wait until the completion of the World Series.
However, the Cubs still had a manager in place after Renteria finished his first season as the skipper of the Cubs as he was put in an uncomfortable position as he was in limbo and waiting to be replaced. After he was fired on Friday afternoon, that all but signaled that the deal with Maddon was a done and all that was left was for him to be introduced to the media at Wrigley Field.
Maddon is a two-time American League manager of the year and led the Rays to the World Series in 2008. The Cubs hope Maddon can do what he did in Tampa with the Cubs who can give him a much bigger budget to work with than he ever had in Tampa and a loaded farm system with elite position prospects, including minor league player of the year Kris Bryant.
