Gibson is the nation’s No. 45 overall recruit regardless of position, No. 3 athlete and the No. 11 recruit in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the favorite to land his commitment after the Tennessee Volunteers and Auburn Tigers were his early leaders, but now his finalists are the LSU Tigers and Miami Hurricanes in addition to the Buckeyes.

Gibson led his team to the state championship last year when he completed 56 percent of his passes for 1,864 yards and 19 touchdowns with three interceptions. The 6-4, 200-pound quarterback also ran for 1,032 yards on 105 carries with 10 rushing touchdowns.

Gibson was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl this winter.

Some schools viewed Gibson as a wide receiver at the next level, but Gibson views himself as a quarterback first which led to other schools falling out of the picture in his recruitment. If he chooses Ohio State as expected he likely will redshirt as a freshman to refine his passing mechanics with J.T. Barrett and potentially even Braxton Miller ahead of him on the depth chart.
