The Minnesota Vikings and Washington Redskins aren’t high powered offenses, but they turned in a great game on Sunday afternoon.

When you saw that the Vikings and Redskins on the schedule this week, the last thing that anyone was thinking was that it was going to be an interesting game. Not even the Washington team bus wanted to make it to the game, as the team was involved in an accident before the game that saw the two team buses get into a crash on the way to TCF Bank Stadium.

Once the game actually started, the story again became about Robert Griffin III and how well he’d play in his first game back since dislocating his ankle in Week 2 of the season. He came out and gave Washington a 10-0 lead which the team looked like they’d hold into halftime. A critical interception before halftime though led to a Teddy Bridgewater touchdown pass that made it a 10-7 score at the half.

Robert Griffin III had a nice start to the game, but he was crushed in the second half as the Vikings ended the game with five sacks. There were times that he looked good though, throwing a touchdown early on in the first half.

After a scramble on the final drive of the game, Griffin scrambled but when down for a slide that he took forever to come up from. It was clear that the Vikings defense banged Griffin around and made him pay for the points he scored on them.

But if there was an MVP of the game it was Vikings running back Matt Asiata, who rushed for three touchdowns on the afternoon and always seemed to find the goal line when the team needed him to.

In the end, the Vikings defense was able to pull it out despite some pretty massive mistakes from Teddy Bridgewater that made the game a lot closer than it should have been. The Vikings rookie looked every bit the part of a young an inexperienced quarterback as he missed two wide open deep shots on the afternoon that would have made the game a two score difference.

Luckily the Vikings won the game on defense, but there is still ton of work from both of these teams that needs to be done.
