UNC keeps taking hits as another former athlete, Tydreke Powell, comes out and makes more accusations.

Someone claiming to be Tydreke Powell, former Tarheel defensive lineman who played under Butch Davis, had some things to say when he called into a local radio station, 102Jamz, 102.1 FM in Greensboro, North Carolina this morning.

“If you ain’t inside of there, you don’t know what’s going on. But Butch Davis came into a meeting one day and he said ‘If y’all came here for an education, you should’ve went to Harvard,'” Powell said.

Powell, when asked about basketball coach Roy Williams said, “Man…man, you know he knows,” Powell replied. “Roy Williams is a snake, man.”

He goes on to say that since the coach is their leader he and the others didn’t know what they were supposed to do. Powell also admitted to taking paper classes that “everybody knew” were fake and even claimed girl did all of an athletes homework and would then partake in inappropriate relationships with other athletes.

This is something that probably shouldn’t come as a surprise seeing as more information has been pouring out of Chapel Hill since the whole thing started. It also shouldn’t be much of a surprise that student-athletes cheat, but more of a surprise to me that so many are coming out about it.

Powell claimed in the call he wanted to get people to stop blaming the players for taking the classes. To be fair, I would imagine it is kind of hard to say no to taking very easy classes and playing sports at a high level for free. These quotes are very damming and we should expect some reaction soon.
