Ranking the Top 5 goalie masks for the 2014-15 NHL season

Perhaps I am a little late on this one, with Halloween passing nearly two weeks ago, but goalie mask designs are the type of thing I think you can take a look at throughout the NHL season – especially since some goaltenders roll out custom masks for special games.

While I will acknowledge that mask designs today lack the charm of the “Jason-style” masks of the 70s, modern airbrushing has allowed for some beautiful artwork to be featured on every available piece of real estate on the mask. With the primary function of a goalie mask being safety, designers have to get pretty creative to fit their designs in – after all, the majority of the mask is straps and the cage.

In this post I will list my Top 5 masks currently seeing action in the NHL – one-off masks will be allowed, provided they have been worn in the 2014-15 NHL season.

With the introduction out of the way, let’s kick things off with number five on my list.
