As the holidays near, we have many traditions to unroll and many decorations to unpack. And of course we have to keep up with all the guys and girls dressing up like Santa Claus and robbing their local post office. Wait, what?

That’s right, we have our first Santa robber of the year, and likely not our last. A man in Australia robbed a post office while donning a full Santa costume and remains at large. Check out the security footage and news coverage below.

The kicker comes about fifty seconds in when the reporter notes the two clerks thought ‘Santa was coming in for a very different reason’.

In fairness, you would probably think the same thing too if you worked at the post office. You might think, ‘Hey, look at the crazy guy in the Santa outfit. I wonder if he has presents.’ Robbery would be well down on the list of expectations.

That’s just how it goes in Australia apparently and it’s easy to assume that will probably happen Stateside soon enough.

There’s always a string of these robberies going on around the holidays, so remain vigilant, citizens. If approached by a man or woman dressed as Santa Claus, play it safe and report them to the police. Maybe even try to physically detain them straight away. You know, just in case they try to play that Mariah Carey Christmas song or something equally brutal.
