A young Atlanta Braves fan became inconsolable after learning Jason Heyward was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals.

There was a time not that long ago when Jason Heyward was considered to be the best young player in baseball. There were even comparisons to Ken Griffey Jr, though after an impressive rookie season Heyward didn’t progress at a rate that many had hoped for.

That’s not to say he’s still not an extremely talented player who is dripping in promise, but the Atlanta Braves needed pitching and were willing to give up on the said promise in exchange for a front of the rotation arm. That’s why they traded Jason Heyward to the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday morning in exchange for Shelby Miller, a deal which sent the baseball world into a frenzy.

It also turned the world of a young Atlanta Braves fan upside down as can be seen in the below video:

Talk about being heartbroken. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a child ball their eyes out over the loss of a big name player, though it’s clear he’d like a word or two with the Atlanta Braves front office if he had the chance.

Hopefully the video gets in the hands of Jason Heyward and he can send an autographed hat or ball to the young boy who’d likely cherish the memorabilia for the rest of his life. Perhaps he’ll have enough sway to change the boy’s fandom from the Braves to the Cardinals as well with such a gift.

He’ll soon learn that players come and go though even as an adult you can’t help but get a little torn up inside when your favorite player moves on, especially in a trade.
