Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant stood up for Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard after yet another NBA player, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, called Howard out.

It’s well documented that Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard didn’t get along during their lone season (2012-13) together as teammates on the Los Angeles Lakers.

NBA fans appeared to get even more insight into their fractured relationship when cameras caught Bryant calling Howard, now a member of the Houston Rockets, a “soft mother****er” and a racial slur in their first game of this current NBA season.

However, on the heels of Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant recently calling Howard a “pu**y,” Bryant is letting it known he doesn’t dislike Howard as much as he let on a couple of weeks ago.

From NBA.com:

"“No, I don’t feel that way,” Bryant said. “And I don’t think Kevin does either. At moments of confrontation during a game you’ll say things in the heat of the moment. I know Dwight. I’m sure Kevin does. We don’t feel that way about him.“You get in an argument with somebody, you’ll say things out of frustration, out of anger that you really don’t mean. It’s a heat of the battle, heat of the moment.“You (media) guys have all been in arguments, guys that are married. Sometimes you say things that you want to take back, that you don’t really mean. But it’s in the heat of confrontation.”"

It’s actually pretty respectable for Kobe to come out and stand up for Howard, considering, as we’ve talked about, the two have had their fair share of problems over the years.

As Bryant said, we’ve all said things we don’t mean at times when we were upset.

So, if he’s willing to categorize this as one of those instances, we should too.
