LeBron James: Teaching Cavaliers To Win My Greatest Career Challenge
By Sam Richmond
LeBron James says making the Cleveland Cavaliers a championship team will be his hardest career accomplishment.
It took LeBron James nine seasons to win his first NBA championship.

However, James doesn’t believe that long, difficult journey to the league’s mountaintop will be prove the be the most difficult challenge of his career.
That distinction belongs to his quest to teach the Cleveland Cavaliers how to win at a championship level, James told ESPN.
"“This is more challenging than me trying to win my first championship,” James told ESPN.com on Wednesday, hours before his Cavaliers hosted the San Antonio Spurs. “Because that was a personal goal of mine. Doing this was never a goal until I decided to come back to Cleveland.”"
(…)
"“I’ve taken on the burden of leading young guys,” James said, “getting them to understand what it takes to win. And it takes more than just basketball. It’s about being a professional, not having a sense of entitlement, being grateful that you’re a part of this league. Those things have a lot to do with winning."
"“It’s going to take a while. When you’re losing, you pick up a lot of bad habits. When you walk into the building every night and don’t even expect to win, that wears on you, and it takes a while to break it.”"
I can’t help but read these quotes and think about how Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and the rest of James’ Cavaliers teammates react to them.
There’s a ton of talent on the Cavs’ roster, but James diminishes the abilities of his teammates in a sense by talking about how much of a challenge it will be to win with them. One has to believe Love, Irving and Co. don’t appreciate that.
Also, while LeBron’s trying to paint his situation in Cleveland as a very difficult one, we’re not buying. LeBron, Irving and Love form the league’s best superstar trio and the Cavs are the favorites to reach the NBA Finals.
LeBron might have been better off keeping these comments to himself.
