The annual rivalry clash between the USC Trojans and the UCLA Bruins is underway at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night and we’ve already seen some of the weird broken out, thanks to USC quarterback Cody Kessler.
And no, it wasn’t anything that happened with his arm.
On their opening drive Kessler and the Trojans were able to get the ball near midfield where they were faced with a 4th & 5. To the surprise of some, Kessler was lined up in the shotgun, leading some to believe that USC could be thinking about going for it.
Now for those who know the game, they could see the pooch punt coming a mile away, and that’s exactly what happened. And oh man, was it a beauty by Kessler.
Look at Kessler showing off the elite punting skills there. Not bad at all.
Now where this punt really came in handy was on UCLA’s first play right after this when Brett Hundley was picked off and USC returned it for a score to take the early lead.
