Adrian Peterson Prefers To Play In Minnesota?
By Hayden Kane
Adrian Peterson‘s future remains unclear, but when he is able to return to NFL action, Minnesota Vikings‘ head coach Mike Zimmer believes Peterson would prefer to play in Minnesota.
Whether or not Adrian Peterson had dealt with a child abuse case and missed extended time this season, his future with the Vikings was going to be in doubt. The end of the 2014 season marks the point in Peterson’s contract where it makes more sense for the team to cut him than to retain him.

The Vikings have already paid Peterson all of his $36 million in guaranteed money. That means that they can either pay $12.75 million to have him play running back for them in 2015 or $2.4 million for him not to. Even with Peterson’s elite talent, it was unlikely that the Vikings would ever pay that premium for a running back with so many miles on his legs.
Now, with the P.R. nightmare that accompanies Peterson, it seems like a given that he will be gone. Some will still cling to the dream of seeing Peterson in a Vikings’ uniform again, however, and head coach Mike Zimmer seems to believe that Peterson himself is one of those people.
According to Ed Werder:
Focusing once again on the business of Peterson’s contract, the Vikings already got burned once by the star running back. They paid him a lot of money to not play football in 2014 while he was on the exempt list.
It seems natural that Minnesota will want to move on to a less risky and preferably cheaper situation at running back in 2015 and beyond.
