Quinn has quite a lengthy resume when it comes to the storied world of hockey. Quinn began his playing career all the way back in 1968 when he played for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He would spend two seasons with the Maple Leafs before being claimed by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1970 NHL Expansion Draft.

Following two seasons with the Canucks, he would head to the Atlanta Flames (which would later be relocated to Canada and become the Calgary Flames.)

Throughout the course of his NHL career, Quinn played in a total of 606 games where the defenseman was able to score 18 goals and 113 assists for a total of 131 points. In 1977 he would retire from on-ice play.

In addition to his time as a player on the ice, Quinn would also have quite the career as a coach as well. Quinn has coached teams like the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, and the Vancouver Canucks.

In his time with the latter two on the list, he was able to reach the Stanley Cup Finals; in 1980 with the Flyers and 1994 with the Canucks.

He is also one of few coaches who have captured the Jack Adams Award, which is awarded yearly to the Coach of the Year, with two different teams; first with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1980 and then once again with the Vancouver Canucks in 1992.

He also coached his native Canada in the international hockey world as well. Pat Quinn was the coach of Team Canada in the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah where the Canadians would bring home their first Gold Medal in fifty years.

Currently, Quinn was serving as the Chairman of the Board of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

We here at FanSided extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the legendary Pat Quinn. Hopefully, they will be able to find some sort of peace in this, their time of grieving.
