The Los Angeles Lakers bench goes insane after Wesley Johnson throws down a nasty dunk and posterized a Denver Nuggets players.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

While a transition three-point shot to put an exclamation mark on an impressive run is one of the most exciting plays in basketball, for most fans it doesn’t compare to a powerhouse dunk.

That apparently holds true for players as well as evidenced during the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night.

With the score tied late in the 4th quarter, the Lakers were able to steal the ball away from under the basket which resulted in a mass outlet of players heading the other way. Among them was forward Wes Johnson who ended up with the ball in his hands and elevated for a monster dunk over Nuggets defender Danilo Gallinari.

The end result was extremely impressive and the Los Angeles Lakers bench couldn’t help but contain their excitement with a hilarious reaction.

When you think of rim-rattling dunks you don’t really associate Wes Johnson with such which made the play even better. That’s not to say Johnson can’t throw down a jam here or there but this was certainly among the best of his career.

Add in that he completely posterized Gallinari in the process and gave the Lakers a lead with the jam? It was a perfect storm of awesome.

Despite the jaw dropping play, it was Gallinari and his Denver Nuggets who had the last laugh however as they ended up defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in overtime, giving LA their 11th loss in 14 attempts.

At least the Los Angeles Lakers can play an entertaining brand of basketball while losing which is more than some teams in the NBA can currently say.
