After months of wanting to hear from CM Punk and why he left WWE, that has finally happened on an interview with Colt Cabana.

More from WWE

Late Wednesday evening we learned that CM Punk would finally be explaining himself and why he left WWE with an appearance on the podcast of his best friend, Colt Cabana. While we thought we would have to wait until late Thursday to listen to this, that was not the case. The podcast dropped a short time ago and Punk has indeed talked.

Right off the bat, Punk made it clear that he never wanted to sell his story to anyone, which is why he chose to break the news this way, for free with his best friend.

“Money is not everything, ladies and gentlemen. That will be a big theme in my story.” Punk said.

This could also be taken as letting everyone know that money is not a reason that he left WWE, something that people speculated, among a lot of other potential reasons as to why he bailed the night after the Royal Rumble back in January.

Punk then delved into the story that everyone has been waiting to hear, and basically, as we all assumed, everything was just flat out miserable.

"Punk goes on to say that he is very happy now, and that his last days in WWE he was miserable. He calls the creative environment inside WWE as “toxic.” Punk claims Vince McMahon stifled him from being a part of a number of things, such as having sponsors on his ring gear, only to see other superstars such as Brock Lesnar get to participate in such deals. He also claims that as champion, he did all of the same appearances and has made as many “wishes”[Make-A-Wish] as John Cena, but the company never advertised it.He goes on to say WWE makes their superstars work for terrible pay and little-to-no benefits. The company also makes superstars, including Punk, work hurt and sometimes while suffering from concussions. Punk describes a situation in which he was forced to work while concussed. Punk also describes multiple times, especially with a reckless superstar such as Ryback, that he was pushed into matches fresh off of surgeries and still somewhat injured."

So taking Punk’s words, everything had just been building up over time. This was indeed coming, and everything just blew up the night after the Survivor Series.

It should also be noted that Punk said The Shield was his idea, and they were supposed to be linked with him, like was teased on television. However, plans for that were scrapped.

The interview is definitely worth a listen and you can take it all in right here.
