Eagles vs. Cowboys Final Score: Philadelphia Runs Away 33-10
By Phil Watson
The Philadelphia Eagles took sole possession of first place in the NFC East with a Thanksgiving thrashing of the Dallas Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys couldn’t stop the Philadelphia Eagles from running the football, and as a result, couldn’t stop the Eagles from taking over sole possession of the NFC East lead.
Philadelphia rushed for 256 yards—159 from LeSean McCoy—and ran roughshod over the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Thursday to the tune of a 33-10 win.
The Eagles (9-3) scored on their first two possessions to take a 14-0 lead, putting Dallas (8-4) into catch-up mode for the rest of the afternoon.
Mark Sanchez opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run and later connected with Jordan Matthews for a 27-yard scoring pass that put Philadelphia up 14-0 just 11 minutes into the game.

Dallas answered with a 67-yard drive, capped by DeMarco Murray’s one-yard run, but that would prove to be the Cowboys’ lone touchdown of the day.
The Eagles got three Cody Parkey field goals in the second quarter and led 23-7 at the half.
Dallas forced its only takeaway of the day early in the second half, when McCoy fumbled and Jeremy Mincey recovered at the Philadelphia 12, but could only muster Dan Bailey’s 28-yard field goal.
On the Eagles next drive, McCoy atoned for the error with a 38-yard touchdown run and a 30-10 Philadelphia lead.
McCoy had 159 yards on 25 carries and Chris Polk added 49 on 11 attempts for the Eagles, while Sanchez was 20-for-29 for 217 yards and a touchdown.
Tony Romo was sacked four times, threw two interceptions and finished with 199 yards on 18-of-29 passing. His 38-game streak of throwing at least one touchdown pass was also snapped.
Murray had to work hard, as well, finishing with 73 yards on 20 carries.
The Eagles outgained the Cowboys 464-267 on the day.
Dallas will play three of its last four games on the road, but that might not be a bad thing—Thursday’s loss dropped the Cowboys to 3-4 at home this season.
The Eagles will get 10 days off before hosting the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 7, while Dallas visits the Chicago Bears next Thursday night.
