Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs USC Trojans

USC will host Notre Dame Saturday in what is one of the best rivalry games in college football. Both teams enter this one fresh off a tough loss. UCLA took care of the Trojans 38-20 last weekend, dropping USC to 7-4 on the season. The Irish (7-4) fell 31-28 to Louisville last Saturday, their third straight defeat. Still, despite each team’s recent woes, this promises to be a good one because of the history and tradition associated with this matchup.

Details for Saturday’s game are below:

Date: Saturday, Nov. 29
Start time: 3:30 p.m. ET
Location: Los Angeles, California
Stadium: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
TV info: FOX Sports 1
Live stream: Fox Sports Go
Radio: Notre Dame broadcast, here. USC broadcast, here.

Keys to Victory

Notre Dame needs to do what it does best and pass the ball. Although the Irish have played poorly in recent weeks, quarterback Everett Golson hasn’t been the problem. He’s thrown 29 touchdowns and 13 picks this year and his play is crucial for a Notre Dame win. On the other side of the ball, they must pressure USC quarterback Cody Kessler and hope to get him out of a rhythm.

USC also needs to focus on the passing game in this one. The Trojans rank 20th in the country in passing yards per game and Kessler has thrown a whopping 30 touchdowns compared to just four interceptions. The quarterback battle will be crucial in deciding this one. Defensively, the Trojans should key on William Fuller, Golson’s top target. He has four touchdowns in Notre Dame’s past two games.

Betting Odds

Point spread: USC – 7
Moneyline:  Notre Dame +235, USC -280
Over/Under: 62.5

Prediction

It’s hard to pick Notre Dame in this one, given their recent struggles. Also, it’s not easy for anyone to go into the Coliseum and beat the Trojans. We’ve got USC in a semi-close battle.
