Russell Wilson was all by himself running down the field Thursday night at Levi’s Stadium when the ball suddenly fell out of his hands. Could it have been … ?

In two full seasons, he has two playoff berths, a road playoff win and a Super Bowl title and the former third-round pick is right there in the discussion as the best quarterback taken in a rich draft pool that included Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts and Robert Griffin III of the Washington Redskins (hey, he was good … once).

But on Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers, Wilson inexplicably fumbled when there was no one around him.

However, we at FanSided may have discovered how Wilson dropped the ball. Think grassy knolls. Or at least, Internet trolls.

The play, near the end of the first half, wound up being a four-yard loss and perhaps the easiest sack Tony Jerod-Eddie has ever gotten.

Of course, that wouldn’t be much of a stretch—it was the first career sack for the second-year defensive end out of Texas A&M.
