UCLA redshirt junior Brett Hundley was honored with the seniors prior to the Bruins game against the Stanford Cardinal on Friday afternoon cementing the belief that this will be his final year in a Bruins uniform before heading to the 2015 NFL Draft.
This should come as no surprise as Hundley nearly declared for the draft last year and could have been a first round pick and even when he elected to bypass the draft said his redshirt junior year would be his final season at UCLA. For those who forgot, Hundley reiterated his future plans earlier this week when he said he had likely played his last game against USC further cementing his plans to leave UCLA for the draft.
Hundley entered Friday’s game leading the nation with a 72.0 completion percentage and ranks sixth with his 160.51 quarterback rating. For the season, Hundley has 20 touchdowns to only five interceptions and 2,873 yards. UCLA needs a win to clinch the Pac-12 south and play in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
He likely will slot somewhere in the middle of the first round to top of the second round depending on postseason workouts at the combine and at UCLA’s pro day. He is far from a finished product but has a lot of tools for a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator to work with.
