Tanner Glass could be the mumps gateway between the Western Conference and the East

When the New York Rangers signed Tanner Glass in the off-season, I didn’t really understand it.

I trusted Alain Vigneault, though — if Mr. Last In Corsi Glass fit into Vigneault’s Big Plan for the Rangers, so be it. He’s made some moves that turned out better than expected before; best to trust the man.

After twenty-one games, though, Glass is right back where he was last season — no goals, one assist, and… you guessed it… dead last on the Rangers in Corsi Rel% with a whopping -14.04.

The season’s still young, things could change. Maybe Tanner Glass is just getting warmed up; I just don’t know.

What I do know, is that when I see this tweet:

I panic.

So far this season, Corey Perry, Francois Beauchemin, and Jonas Brodin have all missed serious chunks of time from their Western Conference seasons with the mumps.

Do you know what the first sign of the mumps epidemic was?

A tweet about Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf, saying both players had been scratched with ‘flu-like symptoms’.

Not to be an alarmist… but the Eastern Conference really cannot afford a mumps epidemic. Imagine what could happen to Columbus.
