The Los Angeles Kings‘ reported Stadium Series jersey was leaked… and I’m underwhelmed.

Just hours after the Los Angeles Kings announced the reveal date for their 2015 NHL Stadium Series jerseys (spoiler alert: today wasn’t that day), Mayor’s Manor dropped this bomb on us.

More from Los Angeles Kings

According to the blog, this is the leaked sketch of the official 2015 Kings Stadium Series uniform design. Am I the only one who’s left wanting more?

I would like to observe a few things, though:

First, while I’m understandably devastated at the lack of purple shown in the design, S.I.’s Al Muir has a nice point — the two-tone look is kinda neat, I suppose. It’s better than the awful Lakers-esque colors that the team went with when they first joined the league. Does anyone else remember the yellow pants they wore? So much relief that they didn’t opt for that.

Second, I can’t begin to describe how happy I am that they went with the LA Crest design instead of the Burger King hat that last year’s jersey displayed. I hated the Burker King crown then, I still hate it now. Crest design forever.

Finally, this may seem like wishful thinking — but I’m just not buying the ‘LA’ and crown shoulder patches. Last season had the nifty black shoulder contrast to give what was also a very two-dimensional design some added flair, so I can’t imagine them regressing this badly. Instead, I’m going to spend the final eight days leading up to the real reveal pretending that those are simply placeholders for little Stanley Cup patches that say ‘2012’ and ‘2014’; with the San Jose Sharks as their Stadium Series draw, nothing would make me happier than seeing that little shoulder-patch chirp.

I’m still waiting for San Jose to debut the Golden Seals jerseys, though. Then I’ll truly be satisfied with the Stadium Series designs.
