NFLPA To Sue NFL For Reinstatement Of Adrian Peterson
By Cory Buck
The NFLPA has filed suit against the NFL for the reinstatement of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.
It didn’t take long for the other shoe to fall after a recording was leaked that confirmed Adrian Peterson’s original claim that he was a promised a two-game suspension by NFL executive, Troy Vincent. The union has filed suit with the US District Court in Minneapolis, Minnesota for Peterson’s immediate reinstatement, per ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.

The union appears to have a strong legal case, regardless of what your personal feelings tell you about Adrian Peterson and his crimes. Peterson was convicted of a misdemeanor, his first, and the league continued to pay him throughout the investigation while barring him from the field.
That might have been all well and good, but to see the league promise Peterson one thing, then take punitive action when Peterson didn’t jump through the specific non-mandatory hoops placed before him by the league, only makes the league look bad.
Much like Ray Rice before him, Adrian Peterson’s case against the NFL isn’t one of morality or excessive punishment. It’s about clarity and the myriad of confounding decisions made by a league that clearly has no idea how it wants to punish players who break the law. They haven’t done so in a clear, consistent manner which has opened the league up to cases such as this, where the union can tee off and get what it needs for its players.
