Dwyane Wade Gets Poked In Eye By Official (Video)
By Josh Hill
The Miami Heat lost Josh McRoberts for the remainder of the season this week, and Dwyane Wade almost added to the losses by losing an eye courtesy of the referees.
Is it possible for a referee to call a foul on himself? That’s the serious, not so serious, question NBA fans are asking themselves after watching what happened to Dwyane Wade in Tuesday night’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.

The Heat guard was the recipient of an errant arm gesture by an official on Tuesday night and it was a gesture that wasn’t so much offensive in nature as it was deadly in force. Wade was in the wrong place at the wrong time and ended up getting poked in the eye.
That’s got to be some sort of foul, right?
No one is seriously in their right mind trying to argue that a foul should be called on the official here, but it needs to be put into context. Had this been a player waking Wade, the chances that it gets called a foul are rather high.
Of course, it’s not a certinaty that a foul gets called, but there is no chance one gets called on the official. We’re just all lucky this wasn’t a serious injury though, as while it’s not as severe as the blown roughing call against the 49ers on Sunday, this could have cost the Heat in a big way if Wade had actually gotten hurt.
