The judge presiding over the murder case of Aaron Hernandez has banned any and all logos and insignia of the New England Patriots from the courtroom.

If you’re planning on attending the first of multiple court cases against former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, you’ll have to do so without your Pats gear. Bristol Superior Court Judge E. Susan Garsh has reportedly filed a court order banning any Patriots logos or likenesses from the courtroom so as to keep the focus on the facts for the jury.

Boston.com reports that Garsh issued the order that reads:

"“No person wearing clothing, or a button or other object attached to clothing, or carrying an object that displays any Patriots or other NFL team logo, football-related insignia, or words and/or a photograph that relate in any way to this case will be permitted entry to the Fall River Justice Center during any phase of the trial.”"

The judge cited the ‘dignity of the proceedings’ for this and 28 other rules laid out in advance of what will be a high-profile court case in the eyes of sports and news media.

There will be plenty of distractions for the jury, which can often be trouble. Instead of feeding into that, Garsh is putting the quick kabosh and reducing Hernandez’s defense and the prosecution’s case to the facts at hand.

The media is scheduled to meet with the court on January 6, 2015 in advance of the trial, so expect to hear any further relevant details on the proceedings then.
