Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is already lobbying for the team to re-sign wide receiver Randall Cobb.

When your franchise quarterback speaks, you as a front office listen.

That’s exactly what the Green Bay Packers are doing after Aaron Rodgers appeared on ESPN Milwaukee radio Tuesday afternoon and suggested it’s important wide receiver Randall Cobb is re-signed at season end.

Cobb of course has become one of Rodgers’ favorite targets and has proven himself to be one of the better wideout’s in the NFL. Of course, with that talent and ability comes a hefty paycheck and it’s not known if Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson is willing to meet Cobb’s demands.

He may want to though if Aaron Rodgers wants him back.

The biggest issue is simply how much money the Green Bay Packers will invest into their wide receivers. Jordy Nelson is already signed on a big deal while the club brought in both Davante Adams and Jeff Janis during the past draft.

Granted Adams and Janis aren’t in the same realm as Randall Cobb currently but how much money can Green Bay invest without hurting themselves elsewhere?

Rodgers, in addition to praising Cobb for securing his first 1,000 yard season also talked about how important the wide receiver has become in the Green Bay Packers locker room and how his leadership has helped the team this season.

Clearly he’s throwing all of his support behind the Green Bay Packers re-signing the wideout. One would assume Ted Thompson and company would listen but Randall Cobb may need to give the Pack a bit of a hometown discount as they can’t afford to give him the Victor Cruz type contract he’s allegedly seeking.
