Baylor landed the commitment of five-star recruit Jarrett Stidham (Stephenville, TX Stephenville) on Friday, six days after he decommitted from Texas Tech. Stidham is the nation’s No. 26 overall recruit regardless of position, No. 3 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 5 recruit in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Stidham committed to Texas Tech in March but after an unofficial visit to Baylor for their regular season finale on Dec. 6 and an in-home visit from head coach Art Briles and assistants Phillip Montgomery and Kendal Briles on Dec. 10, Stidham would decommit on Dec. 13 from the Red Raiders. After a second unofficial visit on Dec. 14, Stidham looked like his future would be in Waco where he would be the next quarterback to thrive in Briles’ offense.

“Baylor is the best offense in the country,” said Stidham, via 247Sports.  “They’re fast and they can score in a hurry.  I love that.  I love that type of offense that really lets the skill players shine like they do there at Baylor.  I knew it was going to be the best fit for me personally.”

Baylor has seen Robert Griffin III win a Heisman, Nick Florence put up gaudy stats and most recently Bryce Petty finish in the top 10 for the Heisman the last two seasons while winning at least a share of the Big 12 each season.

Stidham should continue that legacy with his dual-threat ability that saw him throw for 2,934 yards and 35 touchdowns with only three interceptions as a senior and added 969 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground.

With today’s commitment from Stidham who could compete for the starting job as a true freshman, Baylor now owns the nation’s No. 31 recruiting class and the No. 5 class in the Big 12, according to the 247Sports team rankings.
