Kobe Bryant has missed 12 consecutive game tying or go-ahead shots for the Los Angeles Lakers.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

For years there was no player more feared in the NBA come the final seconds of the game than Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

His reputation still stands though there may be cracks emerging as the Black Mamba has struggled late in games, especially recently as he’s now missed 12 consecutive game tying or go-ahead shots.

"Bryant has now missed 12 consecutive potential tying or go-ahead shots in the final five seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime, which ties for the longest such streak in his career; he also missed a dozen such shots in a row between 2005 and 2006."

As noted, this isn’t the first time Kobe Bryant has had a woeful stretch in regards to clutch shots so it’s hard to suggest his age is the reason behind the poor play in the final seconds. That said, you can’t help but wonder about its impact considering Bryant continues to complain about the stresses on his body.

The continued desire to give Kobe Bryant the final shot of a game is also seemingly wearing thin on his teammates as Jeremy Lin recently unleashed a backhanded compliment stating he “likes game winners too“. Still, if you’re the Los Angeles Lakers, it’s difficult to not give Kobe Bryant the ball when you need a bit shot considering his reputation for knocking them down and his ability/talent over the rest of the roster.

Maybe the best situation moving forward would be to get the ball in Kobe Bryant’s hand and force the defense to collapse on him, allowing a Los Angeles Lakers teammate to secure an easy shot.

But the most likely scenario will be Kobe Bryant firing up more clutch shots until they start going in.
