The New York Jets are getting ready to take on their AFC East rivals, the New England Patriots. One team is atop the division and conference, the other is contending for a top draft pick next year.
With Jets head coach Rex Ryan’s future uncertain, there is a chance this could be the last time he partake in the Jets-Patriots rivalry in his current role. When asked about it, Ryan had very little to say.
“I’m just going to be myself,” he said, via ESPN.com. “I’m not dead yet.”
Ryan went on to discuss his relationship with New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, and admitted while they weren’t the best of friends they’re certainly not the bitter rivals the media has portrayed them to be. Ryan went on to classify their relationship as cordial and say they don’t avoid each other when they run into each other in public.
Ryan also said he doesn’t hang out with Belichick, but could you really imagine Belichick hanging out with anyone? Ever?
Wide receiver Percy Harvin seems to think that players will do anything for Rex, and that could work in the Jets favor when it comes to trying to steal a win.
“Guys will run through a wall for Rex,” Harvin said.
