Jim Harbaugh is a hot name on the coaching market in the NFL, but the Chicago Bears may be a perfect fit that no one is considering at the moment.

More from Chicago Bears

With Marc Trestman pretty much done in Chicago, the Bears will be looking to move on in 2015 and find their long-term solution for the future.

While Jay Cutler’s original head coach from his Dener Broncos days, Mike Shanahan, is emerging as an option, so too is soon-to-be-former San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.

According to Jay Glazer from FOX Sports, the Chicago Bears rain a dark horse candidate for winning the services of Jim Harbaugh of the San Francisco 49ers indeed let him go this offseason.

This is all assuming the 49ers are crazy enough to let Harbaugh go, which they seem hellbent on doing. Plus, if the Michigan Wolverines are in the hunt because Harbaugh used to play for them, then that reason is just as valid for the Bears as well. Harbaugh has a Chicago connection from the days he played quarterback for Mike Ditka in the early part of his career and his particular set of skills are needed badly on the sidelines.

Chicago not only needs someone who can coach Jay Cutler, but they need an iconic head coach to lead them into the future. It’s been over 20 years since Mike Ditka was fired and since then the Bears have been shells of their former selves.

Harbaugh turned the San Francisco 49ers into repeat winners, with three straight NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl berth being accomplished in his short stint there. Chicago needs that fire that Harbaugh has and they could end up being the perfect fit for him that no one is talking about.
