The Los Angeles Lakers D-League team, the Los Angeles Defenders, scored 175 points against the Sacramento Kings‘  Reno Bighorns.

The Los Angeles Lakers currently sit at 8-18, good for last place in the Pacific Division. Not far ahead of them are the Sacramento Kings, who after a very hot start have come back down to earth and hold a 11-15 record.

Needless to say, both franchises might want to look towards their NBA D-League affiliates who are lighting up the scoreboard at an absurd pace.

Don’t believe me? You might want to check the below video which shows the regulation score between the Los Angeles Defenders and the Reno Big Horns, the developmental affiliates of both franchies.

Yes, you read that correctly. The Defenders defeated the Big Horns by a final score of 175 to 152, a NBA D-League record.

So what’s the reasoning behind this? Well, Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive has been experimenting with the Reno Big Horns’ playing style which is essentially fire up as many shots as possible and as quickly as possible. Two players on the roster average upwards of 30 points a game. Of course, on the flip side, with so many possessions that also allows the opposing team to score just as frequently.

Still, 175 points is mildly absurd even for a two overtime game in the D-League, let alone a regulation score.

Fun as it might be to watch, it’s obviously not something that will work well in the NBA though it might be fun to watch it for a game or two.

Oh who am I kidding, just watch NBA All-Star weekend if you want to see a bunch of points and zero defense.
