Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was nearly destroyed after the offensive line decided not to block against the Minnesota Vikings.

As a quarterback, you expect your offensive line to have your back at all costs. That’s generally what happens, though not during a strange play come the first quarter of the Miami Dolphins game.

With quarterback Ryan Tannehill in the shotgun formation, the ball was hiked to the signal caller and the Minnesota Vikings defense came crashing through the offensive line. Only problem? The O-line decided not to block and multiple Vikings defenders were in the backfield with their eyes zeroed in on a panicked Tannehill.

Not sure what to do, Tannehill thought about running for a moment but quickly fell to the ground as three Vikings defenders jumped on top of him.

So what happened here? Considering the Minnesota Vikings were playing as if it was a normal play, it doesn’t appear as if there was any whistle or timeout. Given that, it’s likely there was a missed snap call and the Miami Dolphins center hiked the ball before he should have.

You can see the ‘Phins wide receivers not leaving their stance on the snap, so they appeared shocked the ball was in play. Considering all that, it simply looked like some miscommunication though I’m sure Ryan Tannehill wasn’t overly thrilled with the blunder.

Thankfully he wasn’t hurt and play could continue on.
