Both Brook Lopez (Brooklyn Nets) and Robin Lopez (Portland Trail Blazers) are trade targets of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been on the search for a big man ever since they signed LeBron James this past offseason.

Unable to find one to their liking, the Cavs went into the season without a rim protector and the lack of size in the middle was rather obvious at first. Now it apperas as if the Cavaliers have been able to maintain without a big body in the middle, though they’re still on the search.

That’s the word from Fox Sports’ Sam Amico who says the Cleveland Cavaliers have their eyes on a trade involving Brook Lopez of the Brooklyn Nets or Robin Lopez of the Portland Trail Blazers.

"League sources say the Cavs have an interest in both Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez (clearly on the market) and Portland Trail Blazers center Robin Lopez (Brook’s twin brother). But salaries would make any sort of move involving the Cavs and either Lopez brother unlikely."

As noted, finding comparable salaries and/or trade pieces that would interest the other team would likely prove difficult so straight up, it’s questionable if either player would be obtainable. Of course, when you potentially add a third team into the mix, perhaps it would make a deal more plausable.

In regards to Brook Lopez, the Nets center who has struggled with foot problems only has one year remaining on his deal, though is owed nearly $17 million dollars next season assuming he exercises his player option.

Robin Lopez meanwhile is a much more affordable expiring contract as he’s only paid $6 million this season and is a free agent come the end of the year. It’s not known if the Cleveland Cavaliers have any pieces that would interest the Portland Trail Blazers, who themselves are playing high quality basketball.
