There was a lot of talk about relocation involving NFL franchises this past year, primarily involving the Los Angeles market. San Antonio was making a case to get the Oakland Raiders to continue moving to the Lone Star State.
Ultimately the Raiders decided to sign a one-year extension at O.co Coliseum and not move. That hasn’t discouraged San Antonio from still pursuing the Raiders how ever.
From The San Antonio Express-News:
"“The on-going discussions between San Antonio and the Raiders continue with almost daily exchanges of business points,” former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros said Sunday via text message.“The Raiders have been very straightforward at every step and, as of this time, have not altered their positions that San Antonio is a viable alternative.”"
San Antonio would still face tough competition from the Los Angeles area, which once was home to the Raiders franchise. San Antonio hosted the New Orleans Saints for a period of time after they were displaced in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which caused an incredible amount of damage to the city and to the Superdome.
